Overview

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek 12 days is best known for its scenic natural beauty and home to Annapurna mountain ranges and other Himalayan peaks. It’s full of astonishing mountain views, beautiful landscapes and cultural wonders.

During the sojourn, the views of Annapurna South, Annapurna I, III, Machhapuchhre, Hiuchuli, Gangapurna and surrounding peaks are truly spectacular. The best thing about hiking on this trail- you’ll be able to enjoy the sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayan giants that is very unlikely to experience anywhere else on this earth.

Plus, the trek encompasses sojourn through traditional villages of native Magars and Gurungs, and the welcoming hospitality of the locals will enrich your overall experience. Indeed, this may be the best way to get acquainted with people and learn about their culture and traditions along the journey.

This epic 12 days hike runs along the hills and lush forests, mostly above 3,000 m in elevation, with amazing panoramic views all along the way. It starts at Phedi which can be reached with an hour drive from Pokhara and passes through villages to reach Annapurna Base Camp, which is just at the foot of Mt. Annapurna.

The majestic route runs along the lowland forests filled with rhododendrons and bamboos before arriving at Modi Khola Gorge, and then onwards to the heart of sanctuary surrounded by mountains on all sides. It’s possible to rejoice in the impressive scenery as you enter a narrow pass between Machhapuchhre and Hiuchuli towards the Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek region is home to Annapurna Conservation Area, one of the well preserved natural wilderness areas in Nepal where you may spot diverse wildlife and vegetation on the way.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal. Our airport representative will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport and transfers to your hotel. Relax in your hotel room and recover from jetlag. In the evening, you can visit our office for administrative work and pre trek briefing. Later, you can enjoy your free time shopping, sightseeing around the streets, tasting Nepali dishes and doing many more interesting activities. Enjoy your first day in Nepal.

Day 2
Drive to Pokhara (830 m)

Up early, we head off to Pokhara, 200 km west of Kathmandu on our tourist vehicle. You’ll drive along the highway above Trishuli River enjoying the scenic views of green terraced fields, beautiful hills and Himalayan peaks all the way to Pokhara. Enjoy your afternoon strolling around the shores of Fewa Lake, and enjoying the magnificent views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna range in the distance.

Day 3
Drive to Phedi and Trek to Tolka (1,700m)

After having breakfast, we’ll drive by private vehicle for an hour to reach Phedi. From here, the trek commences through traditional villages with terraced fields towards Dhampus. Then onwards, it’s a pleasant walk for several hours to reach Deurali. There are several resting points “Chautara” on the way where we can rest and rejuvenate ourselves for the hike. Next, the trail descends gently to Bherikharka and a further half an hour walk along the trail leads to Tolka for our overnight stay.

Day 4
Trek to Chhomrong (2,100 m)

Leaving Tolka, we hike on the trail to reach Landruk, and then descend down hill and continue along the river. En route, we’ll cross a suspension bridge over Modi Khola River. Continuing on, we reach our lodge at Chhomrong village, a beautiful Gurung village on the Annapurna foothills surrounded by Himalayan giants.

Day 5
Trek to Dovan (2,630 m)

From Choomrong, the trail descends down hill through stone steps and then crosses Choomrong Khola on a swinging bridge. Afterwards, the trail climbs gently up to Sinuwa, and then begins an easy hike along lush forests before arriving at Kuldihar. From here, we descend on a steep trail with a stone staircase to reach Bamboo. Next, an hour walk along the forest trail takes us to our ultimate destination, Dovan, where we spend a night there.

Day 6
Trek to Deurali (3,230 m)

Hiking through native forests, we continue to ascend gradually on the trail towards the Annapurna Sanctuary. After arriving at Himalaya Hotel, we’ll get astonishing views of surrounding peaks and glacial rivers. Next, we continue ascending the hill and then walk along the forests towards Hinku Cave followed by a steep climb to reach Deurali. The views of surrounding valleys, waterfalls and mountains are truly breathtaking along the way.

Day 7
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)

Leaving Deurali, we start a hike with a steep ascent to Bagar and continue onward to reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp. This place offers the awe inspiring views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. The path out there along the Annapurna Sanctuary is alpine and rugged terrain with awesome mountain views.

Enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains as you hike en route towards Annapurna Base Camp. After hiking for about 3 hours, we arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, the base of the world’s 10th highest peak, Annapurna I. Enjoy the majestic views of Annapurna range and experience this beautiful moment in the Himalayas.

Day 8
Trek to Bamboo (2345 m)

Leaving Base Camp, we trek down to Bamboo. We return back the same trail that we trek to Base Camp via Machhapuchre Base Camp, Deurali and Himalaya Hotel. We’ll enjoy the stunning surrounding views as we hike towards the lower altitude region all the way to Bamboo.

Day 9
Trek to Jhinu Hot Spring (1,780 m)

Continuing along the trail, we trek down to reach Jhinu Danda and nearby natural hot springs. Upon arriving in Jhinu, we’ll rejoice in the hot spring bath and relax in the pool. Enjoy the amazing sunset views over the snow covered peaks from the lodge.

Day 10
Trek to Nayapul (1,010 m) and Drive to Pokhara (830 m)

Our last day of trekking and the walk continues from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul. The trail goes along Modi Khola River, passing by Birethati village before arriving at Nayapul. There we’ll meet our private vehicle and take a scenic drive to Pokhara. In the evening, you can wander around the Lakeside enjoying the spectacular surrounding views. Enjoy the dinner and celebrate your best moments with your teammates.

Day 11
Drive Back to Kathmandu (1,400 m)

The final leg of the journey. We drive back to Kathmandu in our private vehicle. We have the afternoon in Kathmandu to relax comfortably or sightseeing around the streets of Kathmandu. You can go shopping, visit heritage sites, enjoy nightlife, just to name a few. We’ll have a farewell dinner to celebrate our safe sojourn in the Himalayas.

Day 12
Final Departure
