In a day, you can explore sacred Pashupatinath Temple, one of the world’s largest Boudhanath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, also known for the ancient royal palaces with stunning artworks of cultural and religious significance and the historical Swoyambhunath Stupa in the heart of Kathmandu.

Heading west, a long day drive takes you from historic city Kathmandu to beautiful lake city Pokhara where we are treated with stunning views of Himalayan peaks and scenic landscapes. Due to its spectacular location, it offers some of the world’s best extreme sports activities that, includes paragliding, canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking and many more.

This tranquil city is one of the gateways for hiking in the Annapurna region. We spend our two days by enjoying sunrise views from Sarangkot hill, boat trips at Fewa lake, hiking to World Peace Pagoda, visiting Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, Bindabasini Temple and gorgeous Seti River gorges.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1400 m)

Welcome to Nepal! Enjoy your first day in Kathmandu and have a comfortable stay at the hotel. You will be met by our airport representative at the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to your hotel. You can rest at the hotel where your deluxe room has been booked. In the evening, our tour guide will give you a briefing about the programs in our office. Also, make sure you bring the documentation required for the trip and provide us. Enjoy your leisure time strolling around the tourist district-Thamel, where you can enjoy sightseeing activities, do shopping, and enjoy the nightlife, just to name a few.

Day 2
Sightseeing around the heritage sites of Kathmandu

Kathmandu encompasses many heritage sites that include historical temples, stupas, and ancient palaces. Today, we’ll embark on a sightseeing tour around the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu valley.

Pasupatinath Temple

Up early, we pay a visit to Pashupatinath Temple, located on the bank of the sacred Bagmati river. It’s one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Hindus all around the world. This sacred spot is devoted to Lord Shiva where thousands of devotees undertake pilgrimage every year. Beside the sacred temple, the Bagmati river bank is known for its cremation ghats, where the final ritual of Hindus is performed. Here, you’ll see the ascetic sadhus wandering or meditating around the temple complex.
Boudhanath Stupa

Boudhanath Stupa is the most sacred shrine of the Himalayan Buddhism community. This iconic stupa in the heart of Kathmandu is the largest stupa in Nepal, decorated with colourful prayer flags and prayer wheels. The square tower on the top comprises striking Buddha eyes on all four sides, representing the wisdom and path to enlightenment through the teachings of Buddha. Here, pilgrims and visitors walk around the stupa for daily circumambulations while chanting and praying the holy mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”.

Patan Durbar Square

Patan Durbar Square, with its numerous temples, courtyards and the old royal palace, witness the world-renowned display of craftsmanship and architecture during the Malla period (14th-18th century). This major attraction of the valley is often the site of various festivals and celebrations, and the entire surroundings capture the attention of visitors for its rich artistic and religious heritage. Here, revel in the taste of ethnic Newari cuisines in the local eateries. Also, there are cafes and restaurants where you can relax comfrotably and enjoy the mesmerizing views of people and activities around the durbar square.

Swoyambhunath Stupa

In the evening, we pay a visit to Swayambhunath, also called Monkey Temple, where you can witness monkeys roaming freely around the iconic stupa. Here, you’ll climb the steep staircase to reach the hilltop just to feel the peaceful vibration and enjoy the commanding views of lively Kathmandu city. This holy place is one of the most important sacred sites of both Hindus and Buddhists, symbolizing a unique synthesis of religious harmony and cultural richness. Here, you can spot small shops where you can buy wonderful handicrafts, thangka paintings and souvenirs for your friends and family.

Day 3
Drive to Pokhara, Visit Fewa Lake and Barahi Temple

Get ready for travelling to Pokhara, the second-largest city in Nepal. This popular tourist hub is the gateway to the Annapurna region and offers various adventurous activities for visitors.

In the morning, we drive from Kathmandu on our private vehicle through the riverside highways. Along the journey, you can enjoy the views of raging rivers flowing from the Himalayas to the plain Terai region of Nepal. The picturesque views of traditional villages and cities, green hills with beautiful landscapes makes your journey interesting on the road. Once in Pokhara, you can take a rest in your hotel room. In the afternoon, we wander around Fewa Lake, a pristine lake surrounded by panoramic views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna ranges.

We pay a visit to Barahi Temple, lying on a small island in the middle of Fewa lake, by boat. This sacred temple devoted to Hindu Goddess Durga Devi offers the scenic views of the lake, paragliders, Shanti Stupa and surrounding mountains. Next, we come back to the hotel for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4
Morning drive to Sarangkot hill for sunrise views and then sightseeing tour around Pokhara

There are interesting places to explore in Pokhara. In the morning, we go for a drive to the nearby Sarangkot hills for the breathtaking sunrise views over the Himalayas. The views of beautiful Pokhara city, surrounding hills and mountains seen from the top, is truly breathtaking. Also, it’s fascinating to see paragliders preparing themselves and soaring high in the sky from this vantage point. Next, we get back to the hotel for lunch and spend our whole day sightseeing around the major sites of Pokhara, which includes:

Bindabasini Temple

Bindabasini temple is believed to be a chosen guardian deity of Pokhara. This pagoda-style white washed temple dedicated to Goddess Durga has of great religious significance among Hindus. You can get the close-up views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna ranges from the temple complex. Here, you can behold the sights of the old markets of Pokhara city, and understand the socio-economic lives of people.

Davis Falls

Davis Falls, also known as Patale Chango, is a waterfall that vanishes underground mysteriously and reappears in the Gupteshwor Cave. Especially during monsoon, the water volume is so large, and the views of water splashing on the rocks and water steam coming from the bottom are simply amazing.

Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave

Close to Davis Falls on the other side lies Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave which is said to be the longest Cave in Nepal. The name of the cave itself represents one of the holy names of Lord Shiva, and upon entering the middle of the cave, you come across the natural idols of Hindu deities and temples of Lord Shiva. Likewise, the illuminating wall and ice ridges hanging on the cave walls makes it truly attractive.

Seti River gorges

Seti river is another major attraction of Pokhara. The raging Seti River passes through the middle of the city through the deep, narrow gorges. The origin of this river is Annapurna massif, and it is considered a holy river and worshipped as the form of Lord Visnu by Hindus.

Day 5
Boating in Fewa Lake, and then hike to World Peace Pagoda

A full day of exciting activities today. We begin our day with boating in Fewa lake. Here, you can enjoy the mild breeze and scenic landscapes around the lake. The reflection of Mount Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range seen on the lake is truly spectacular. After revelling in boating for a few hours and crossing the lake, we hike up the hilltop to reach World Peace Pagoda.

We’ll continue hiking for one and half hours to reach this sacred Buddhist monument passing by the traditional villages and native forests. The stupa offers commanding views of Pokhara valley, Fewa lake and the Himalayan peaks. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and an oasis of serenity amidst the vibrant Pokhara. Later, we head back to the hotel for our meals and overnight stay.

Day 6
Drive Back to Kathmandu (1,400 m)

Leaving beautiful Pokhara city, we drive back to Kathmandu in our private vehicle. Once in Kathmandu, enjoy your free afternoon for various activities. You can relax in the comfort of your hotel room or stroll outside the streets of Kathmandu. There are beautiful places nearby Thamel to wander around, from the traditional market of Ason to Basantapur Durbar Square, where you can explore the busy markets, narrow alleys, temples, stupas, royal palaces, shops, restaurants and many more. In the evening, you’ll have a farewell dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant with a live cultural performance. Enjoy your moments and share your experience with us.
